Description: Antique ENGRAVED German WIGGENHOUSER & SOHN Double Barrel PINFIRE Shotgun BACK ACTION HAMMER Gun with HARDWOOD TAKEDOWN CASE Here we present an Antique Wiggenhouser & Sohn Side by Side Double Barrel Back Action Pinfire Shotgun, made circa the 1860s in Konstanz, Germany. Konstanz, spelled Constanz in English, is a city on Lake Constance in southern Germany. For centuries, the country of Germany has been known for gunmaking. They are known for their quality of workmanship and accuracy. This is a very Germanic fowling piece that is elegant with its intricate engravings and its simplicity and practicality. The overall condition is good. Strong action (the right hammer is missing the screw cap but does not interfere with functionality). Bright bores with some freckling at the breech end and a few light dents in the left barrel near the muzzle end. Sturdy stock with an expected amount of wear. Sharp engravings. An aged patina sits over the Damascus barrels. Bright gold maker mark inlays atop the barrel rib. The leather hardwood case is in good shape and includes two spent pinfire shells and two leather slings. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
