Frederick Beesley 12 Bore Sidelock Ejector with 30” Barrels - Sculpted Fences – Gorgeous Highly Figured French Walnut Stock
Description: Handsome and high quality 12 bore 6-pin sidelock made by Frederick Beesley one of the most innovative members of the London gun trade. Highly sculpted fences, profuse upgraded engraving on the action, and loads of case coloring combined with some of the most beautiful highly figured French walnut we have ever seen. Auto safety, rolled edge trigger guard, and automatic ejectors. Presented in its oak & leather case with cover. Beesley number 1526 was manufactured in 1898 and is No. 2 of a pair. Weight is 6lb 12oz. Great for clays and game. The 30” nitro steel barrels are made of Whitworth steel and are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are available in the US from ARMUSA, Game Bore, and RST Shells. The barrels are topped by a raised solid tapered rib which is inscribed “F. Beesley 2 St.James’s Street London Pall Mall Corner. The tops of both barrels are marked “Whitworth’s Fluid Pressed Steel”. The right barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.003 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.032. The left barrel is bored 0.731 and has a constriction of 0.003 for Skeet choke. An upland gunners dream choking! The straight hand stock and semi-beavertail forearm are made of beautiful highly figured French walnut. The finish is superb and the checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-5/8” by 1-7/16” by 2”. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot. This is a beautiful high quality London sidelock at the height of the British gun trade. You will be hard pressed to find its equal in mechanical and cosmetic condition. Wonderfully balanced and great handling. *** Please note that the photographs are part of the description.
