33075-IRISH PERCUSSION SINGLE BARREL 12 GAUGE HALF-STOCK SHOTGUN SIGNED JNO. NEILL, BELFAST CIRCA 1850. 50” o/a with 34” smoothbore part octagon, part round barrel with double silver bands at breech and engraved “BELFAST” on the top flat. Lock engraved with two game birds and floral scroll and signed “JNO. NEILL”. Walnut stock with checkered wrist and engraved steel mounts. German silver oval escutcheon on underside of butt stock and stamped just forward of it the name of a previous owner “W. L. DORAN”. German silver forend cap and wedge escutcheons. All original except nipple which is new. Original rosewood rod. Fine quality gun in nice condition with beautiful original plum brown finish on barrel. Nice dark patina evenly mixed with finish overall. Stock with minor loss on forend but otherwise excellent. Working order and very good bore. Scarce Irish maker. $795.
