Description:
An outstanding example of Sauer quality and craftsmanship from the pre-WWI era.  This is a two barrel set has both sets of barrels numbered to the action's watertable.  The action is the Anson & Deeley system with dual intercepting underlugs and a Greener style crossbolt which locks the doll's head rib extension.  Side clips provide additional lateral support.  The action features superbly executed engraving with a single gold bird on each side, a gold dog on the triggerguard and a dog on the bottom of the action.  Delicate scrollwork is featured on the balance of the action.  The stock has a LOP of 14 3/8" to the front trigger and features an unusual wood buttplate.
The original set of barrels are 28" and choked Mod/Mod.  The second set of barrels are 30" and choked F/F.  With the 28" barrels, the weight is 7 lb 2 oz.

Overall condition is outstanding with 90% original external case coloring and 100% internal case colors.  The stock is in very good condition with minimal handling marks and the checkering is excellent.  The action remains tight on the face and the wood to metal fit is a hallmark of the Sauer quality.  The bores of both sets rate very good with a slight ripple noted ahead of the forcing cone in the left barrel of the 30" set.  Bluing on both sets of barrels is 95%
