O. Geyger 12 gauge
Description: The Purdy of Germany, built in Berlin in 1937 and numbered #1 of a matched pair. A scalloped double-underlug boxlock with sculpted fences, side clips, and housed Greener crossbolt - it locks up like Fort Knox. Strong automatic ejectors and articulated front trigger. Tasteful rose and scroll engraving. 29" barrels have mirror bores, have been rust-blued, and are choked .003 on the right and .016 on the left. This shotgun was restocked approximately 30 years ago with decent walnut of uncertain origin - the drop at comb is 1 1/2" and drop at heel is 1 7/8", so a fairly straight stock with neutral cast-off. It has a horn trigger guard with a long tang and sling mounts. The inner workings are finished like a fine Swiss watch, though someone of German descent might take exception to that. All in all, a sophisticated and smooth-working example of the best of German pre-War gunmaking.
