Ferlib 28 Ga – 99.5%, 5LB. 7OZ., GOLD INLAYS, FIGURED WOOD, vintage firearms
Description: General Specs: Ferlib, 1985, 28 Gauge, 5lbs. 7oz., Chokes M/F, LOP 14 3/16", DAH 2 5/16", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 33589 Ferlib built high-end rifles and shotguns in the gunmaking center of Gardone, Val Trompia, Italy from the late 1940’s through 2005. Libro Ferraglio was the maker’s name, and the label on the gun is comprised of the first 3 letters of his last and first name…hence Ferlib. These were hand-crafted guns, including hand cut engraving and checkering, skillfully fit and finished to old-school standards. The boxlock ejector shotguns were all built on scaled-to-gauge frames with close attention to weight and balance. This gun, sn33589 built in 1985, remains in as new condition with 99.5% factory barrel blue, and 99.5% finish on the rest of the wood and metal. The 26” barrels have perfect bores choked M/F with 2 ¾” chambers, tight hand filed ribs, fit tight as new on the hinge and breech face. The tiny 28ga. action has a fancy scalloped back of action, sculpted frame, removable striker discs, strong well-timed ejectors, perfect screws, articulated front trigger, crisp trigger pulls, and expertly hand-cut scroll and game scene engraving that includes 8 gold inlays on both sides and the bottom of the action, plus deep-chiseled breech balls to top it all off. The engraving is signed by “Bregoli, Inc”, who in fact is Fabio Bregoli, a world-class Italian engraver still creating works of art today. The long tang trigger guard is embellished with fine scroll and both action and trigger guard are a bright coin finish with no signs of use. The wood is fully figured French walnut with perfect layout through the wrist, a 99.5% factory hand-rubbed oil finish, 28 line per inch hand-cut checkering, drop points, blank gold shield in the belly, and terminating in a checkered butt. At 5 pounds 7 ounces and balanced 1/8” in front of the hinge pin, this gun has handling dynamics that will put a smile on your face. With the English stock, splinter forend, tiny action, and slender barrels the gun has a racy, sexy look to it. These guns are made to high quality with all hand fitting and are far nicer than the CNC machined guns coming out of Italy today in this moderate price range. See specifications below. What a great gun for the upland bird season, and just in time for a few trips to the clays course to get used to this little wand. The 28-gauge side x side built in a scaled frame is a highly sought after shotgun among seasoned bird hunters. This is an exceptional value and shouldn’t last long. Please call right away to make this one yours. See the tables below for specifications. The gun is presently set up for a left-handed shooter (barely off of neutral!).
