SALE PENDING ** Krieghoff Ulm Dural Sidelock Ejector, 16 Ga. 28” bls, gorgeous wood, hand-detachable locks, Excellent Plus
Re-discover the 16 gauge. Built in 1976 when Krieghoffs dominated the Olympics, this high grade Sidelock Ejector over and under was built for the aristocrat. It is a perfect example of best German craftsmanship. It features ejector “Bohler Spezial” steel barrels with a solid hand-filed matted top rib, a solid mid-rib (chokes are Modified and Full); and for sights, it is fitted with a center silver bead and an ivory front bead.
This is the great Krieghoff designed sidelock action that locks up with three locks: two Purdey underbites and a third single Kersten crossbolt. The receiver’s left lock is fitted with a concealed sidelock release for the hand-removable Primus sidelocks with integral bridles, intercepting sears and automatic ejectors. The firing pins have a bushed plate for easy removal. Several retaining set screws are present, a true sign of a handmade gun.
The fences are reinforced and the top of the receiver has cocking indicators on each side of the top level. The tang mounted safety is manual. The front trigger is a set trigger and the guard is made of one-piece horn with an inlaid pointed tang, tied down with two engraved screws. The pistol grip is fitted with a matching horn cap.
For cosmetics, the entire receiver areas are full coverage deep scroll engraving finished in French gray as is the forearm’s Deeley & Edge pull down release. The top lever, sling swivels and barrels are blued in a high-quality rust-blue finish.
The oiled stock and three-piece forearm are fashioned from 4X fancy walnut. The figure on both the right and left profiles are just emblazoned with dark streaks in marble cake patterns. The colors are rich from dark tan to nearly black without gaudy contrast.
The stock’s fluted comb is classic with a nicely contoured shadow-line cheekpiece (disclosing its German heritage) and shaped with a pistol grip. Both it and the field forearm are hand-checkered with a skip-line checkering pattern (very German), creating small diamonds in classic point-patterns masterfully cut and surrounded by double borders. The butt is finished with a solid black ¾” German butt pad. The stock inletting is perfection. Dimensions in inches are 1 ½ x 2 ¾ x 14 3/8 (LOP). Weight 5 lbs, 12 oz.
The Dural version of the Ulm was built with Kreighoff’s blend of aluminum and titanium, making a strong but lightweight receiver, easy to carry and a perfect medium for the French Gray finish just becoming popular in the 1970s, comes with maker's case.
Condition: Very well cared for, only slightly used: Bluing is 99%, Wood finish is 99%, checkering is 99.9% and the bores are as new. The action locks up as tight today as the day the gun was made.
New, this is an $18,000 gun, but it is priced here to sell at $11,950.00
