Joseph Harkom & Son 12 Bore Bar Action Hammergun with 30” Barrels and Highly Figured Stock --- Scotland
Description: What a beautiful Scottish hammer gun! Recently refurbished in the UK. Serial number 1614 was made by this famous Scottish maker in Edinburgh circa 1875. Number 2 of a pair. Sleeved with 30” nitro steel barrels. Remnants of the original case colouring are visible on the sidelocks and frame. As is typical of guns from this era a small amount of pitting is visible on the breech face. It has rebounding hammers, extractors, unsprung strikers, and double triggers. The action can be opened with the hammers cocked. Weight 6lb 15oz. *** The 30” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” cartridges. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, 2-1/2” shotshells are available from RST Shotshells, Game Bore, and ARMUSA. The right barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.007 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.017 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. Topped with the original raised solid concave game style rib inscribed “Joseph Harkom & Son 32 Princes Street Edinburgh”. *** The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from an highly figured piece of walnut and the checkering is crisp. Most likely a recent professional restock there are some light scratches from normal usage. The dimensions are 14-3/8” including a 3/4” pad by 1-3/8” by 2-1/8”. Cast off slightly for the right hand shooter. *** If you’ve ever been on a Scottish grouse moor you already know why you should own this gun. Great for game and clays. *** NOTE: The photographs are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license.
