1964 Browning Superposed Grade 1 Magnum, Field Gun, 12 Gauge 30" Barrels w/ Trap Features SOLD
Description:
This 1964 Browning Grade 1 Superposed field grade shotgun is a nice gently used and interesting gun. These vintage Superposed shotguns are considered by many to be one of the finest over and under shotguns ever built. They were built with the finest materials with great attention to detail by the finest Belgian gunsmiths that Browning could find. This particular shotgun has the desirable long-tang but with a flat knob which Browning used on the "competition" models. It has 30" inch barrels with perfect bores and 3" inch chambers. The barrels are choked "Full" and "Modified". It has automatic ejectors and a single selectable trigger in the factory gold finish. As you can see from the pictures, it shows some light wear to the original factory finish. Most of the finish wear is on the bottom of the receiver at the natural balance point where it was carried, the lower tang on the pistol grip, and some light high-edge wear. The original blonde Walnut stock set is in great shape. It is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs and only shows some light handling marks typical of a lightly used gun of this vintage. The buttstock remains full-length and has not been cut, and the factory installed original buttplate is still in place and in great shape. The length of pull is 14.5" inches to the end of the plate. This Browning still locks up tight and is perfectly "on face". As you can see, the action lever still sits nearly dead-center on the upper tang which tells us that there is plenty of life left in the locking blocks before they will need to be serviced. All of the controls work 100% like the day it left the factory. The safety and barrel selector work perfectly and the trigger is quite good, breaking crisply with a light pull with no sloppiness. If you have been looking for a true classic shotgun to add to your collection and take afield, this Browning Grade 1 Superposed Magnum would be an excellent choice. This shotgun could be carried with pride afield hunting or to any trap or sporting clays field in the U.S. and should also be an excellent long term investment.
