Stephen Grant & Sons 20 Bore Sidelock Ejector With 28” Replacement Barrels by the Maker
Description: SOLD *** Handsome and svelte Stephen Grant 20 bore sidelock ejector just restored by Atkin, Grant & Lang in their shop in the UK. Grant no. 6627 was made in 1894. The engraving on the perfectly scaled-down action with its signature Grant fluted fences is profuse and sharp. Highly figured walnut. Great handling and easy to carry for a day afield weighing just 5lb 15oz. Presented in its canvas & leather case with maker’s label and accessories. *** The 28” nitro steel barrels are replacements by the maker and are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. They are topped by a raised solid concave game style rib. It is inscribed “Stephen Grant & Sons. 67A St. Jame’s Street. London”. The bluing is rich and deep. The right barrel is bored 0.615 with a constriction of 0.009 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. The left barrel is also bored 0.615 and has a constriction of 0.033 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. *** The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of highly figured European walnut with a hand rubbed oil finish. The checkering is crisp and the drop points are well defined. Stock dimensions are 14-7/8” including a 1-9/16” ebony extension by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the righthand shot. *** British small bores from a top tier maker like Grant do not come along very often. And not in this condition having been recently restored by the maker. Comes with 250 rounds of RST 20 gauge 2-1/2" ammunition. Time to take decisive action. Don’t let it get away. *** Please note that the photographs are part of the description.
