J. Stevens 16 Gauge Takedown Pump Shotgun
Description:
J. Stevens 16 Gauge Takedown Pump Shotgun – Early Browning Patent Design – Matching Numbers
Here we have a scarce early J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. 16 gauge takedown pump shotgun, built on a John Browning patent design and retaining its original Stevens-marked hard rubber buttplate.
This shotgun features the desirable threaded takedown system, allowing the barrel and magazine assembly to be quickly removed from the receiver for transport and storage. Matching assembly number 21519 is present on the takedown components. The gun remains mechanically complete and retains its original Stevens buttplate, receiver, barrel assembly, and takedown hardware.
The receiver shows an attractive aged blue-brown patina with honest field wear from over a century of use. Wood is solid with no major cracks noted. Action cycles properly, lockup is tight, and the takedown mechanism operates as intended. Barrel is marked FULL choke. Chambering is 16 Gauge.
Notable features include:
- 16 Gauge
- Browning patent design
- Internal hammer pump action
- Right-side ejection
- Left-side action release
- Factory takedown configuration
- Matching assembly number 21519
- Original Stevens buttplate
- Full choke barrel
- Honest original condition
- Excellent collector and display piece
Early Stevens pump guns are becoming increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in complete takedown configuration with matching numbered components. This is a fine example of an early American sporting shotgun that would fit well in any Stevens, Browning patent, or early pump shotgun collection.
