Factory Cased Scott Premier 12 Gauge Two Barrel Set

Description:
W.&C. Scott & Son Premier 12 gauge game gun with two sets of 27" barrels, factory Lard-Westley Richards patent SST, SPG of spectacularly figured  French walnut, ejectors, sideclips, Scott square crossbolt, splinter forend with weight with either barrel set of 6lbs. 2 ozs. S/N 102939, built in 1924, then sent back in 1926 for #2 barrel set and factory trunk case with rare leather Scott trade label. Masterfully engraved with 17 animals and some of the best scroll you will see. I bought this gun in 1988 with the buttstock snapped in two at the wrist, then sent it to Abe Chaber in Conn. along with a Bill Dowtin stock blank($1000 in 90's) and he did a wonderful job restocking it to original semi-pistol grip configuration. Barrel set #1 is IC(.008") & Mod.(.019") and barrel set #2 is Mod.(.021") & light Full (.028"). Both sets are in proof for bore diameter, with the #1 set having .733R & .734L and the #2 set having .735R & .733L, both sets proved at .729. Set #1 has MWT of .031"R & .033"L. Set #2 has MWT of .031"R & .034"L. This gun is built on the scarce light game gun frame giving a weight of  6 lbs.2ozs. with either barrel set. Basically a 12 built on a 16 frame. In the photos, I have a factory letter from the late Dr. John Crawford, author of the Scott book, giving order details on this particular gun. It was ordered by Iver Johnson Sporting Goods of New York on March 31,1924 and completed August 1,1924. Just a great old high grade Scott in wonderful shape, tight, clean, and ready for the next hundred years in the game fields. $15,500.00 or best offer.
