A heritage true pair of cased Watson Brothers side by side 20 bore self-opening sidelock ejector guns with 28” with plain game rib barrels. Both guns are choked light modified and light modified. 14 13/16" length of pull over a checkered butt.
Both guns sport straight English stocks, double triggers on a coffin style round bar action, auto-safety, gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the Purdey style small button safety catch, single brass front bead, pinless locks with raised line cocking indicators, rolled edge trigger guard, removable striker discs, initialed gold ovals, and housed in a brass cornered oak and leather case with turnscrews, snap caps, and an oil bottle. Instead of numbering the guns 1 and 2 of a pair the guns have gold inlaid rose and thistle, both on stems, to differentiate between the guns. The gold inlaid rose and thistle on stems are present on the barrels, forend, and top lever to assure there is no mismatch. The guns were proofed in London in 2000 with 2 3/4" chambers.
Keith Thomas engraved and signed with large acanthus scroll and game scene vignettes. Gun with a rose on a stem: Pierced top lever with a rose and carved fences with roses. Partridges on right side, pheasants on left side, a lone woodcock on the underside, and a brown hare on the trigger guard. Gun with a thistle on a stem: Pierced top lever with a thistle and carved fences with thistles. Grouse on the right side, ptarmigan on the left side, capercaillie on the underside, and black grouse ion the trigger guard. Silver finished actions and furniture. Exhibition grade walnut stocks with near new checkering and wood. Pristine bores and near new bluing on barrels. Top lever right of center, on face and ejectors in time for both guns.
