Winchester Model 23 Golden Quail, 28-gauge SxS shotgun. There were only 500 Golden Quail 28’s made and this one is an extraordinary example!
25 ½” solid rib barrels choked QUAIL 1 (IC) & QUAIL 2 (Mod). Single selective trigger with automatic safety. Coin finished receiver engraved with quail scenes and a gold inlayed quail bust on the bottom with the inscriptions “GOLDEN QUAIL” and “ONE OF 500”.
The finely grain straight grip buttstock and small Beaver tail forearm are finished in a warm brown oil and are nicely checkered. 14 ¼” LOP over the factory ½” pad with 1 ½” DAC and 2 5/8” DAH; neutral cast.
The gun weighs 6 lbs. 15 oz. and handles well, being balanced just behind the hinge pin. This is a very high condition gun with 99% original finishes. It comes in the original Maker’s luggage case with correct paperwork.
