The barrel on this Winchester WWII Trench Gun is dated 1942 which is correct for the serial number. The 20"" round 12GA cylinder bore barrel has an excellent. The barrel, correctly, has not had a front sight bead mounted on it. The modern, correct style, six hole handguard-heat shield is very well made. The gun is correctly marked with the large Ordnance bomb and U.S. on the left side of the receiver and the Ordnance bomb on top of the barrel just forward of the Winchester proof mark. The barrel extension and receiver serial numbers match. The gun retains approx. 95% blue with expected wear at the edges, high points, and the action slide. The 18 groove forearm is excellent. The correct style butt stock is fine with minimal wear and the correct Winchester butt plate. There is no cartouche. The action is tight but functions correctly. Because of the replacement heat shield and butt stock, this original WWII trench gun is reasonably priced at $3750. Most people would never spot the differences!
