1897 Winchester Solid Frame Riot Gun - Berkeley California Police Dept. 20" CYL 1904
Description:
Selling from my long time personal collection of law enforcement shotguns - M1897 Winchester Solid Frame Riot Gun issued to the Berkeley California Police Department, 12 Ga, mfg. 1904. Totally original top to bottom with correct "CYL" marked 20" cylinder bore barrel. Approximately 80% thinned original bluing overall with all correct, clear original markings. The stock shows typical wear with a untouched original finish and Berkeley Police Dept tag. I have observed this same tag on other Berkeley Police issue 97's as well as one M1894 Winchester carbine. Correct early three-screw forearm and rounded pistol grip. There are several tight old cracks in the forearm and a short 1" check behind the frame on the right side but otherwise the wood is sound with no further issues. Original steel buttplate, hammer, trigger, and brass bead front sight. The action is crisp and functions perfectly, I have shot this one. Shiny bore with no scrapes or pitting. A rare and desirable authentic police shotgun from a town with much history. FFL or C&R required. Check or money orders only, 3-day inspection (no dissasembly or firing). No sales to Washington DC or NYC. California sales will require additional approval from CA Attorney General.
