Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 1897 Slide Action Shotgun, manufactured in 1902 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Model 1897 was a superior slide-action exposed hammer shotgun that was specifically designed for the new smokeless powder. Winchester manufactured just shy of one million M1897 shotguns, with the production taking place from July 1897 to September 1957. 

The 20” barrel Riot and Trench Guns were especially desirable for Military and Law enforcement use. The Winchester Model 1897 became the most popular exposed-hammer, slide-action shotgun in history. Many with standard barrel lengths were shortened to the riot length.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. Mirror bright, smooth bore. A thin repaired crack is on the left wrist. Solid buttstock overall. Markings are legible with numbers matching. Barrel shortened to 20” with a nice blue finish.
