Unbelievably Mint Winchester Mod 1897 One of One mfg 1923 97-98% original condition, custom Sheriff Order
Description: Up for grabs is by far the cleanest and most stunning example of a Winchester Model 1897 shotgun we have ever seen. This gun was manufactured in 1923 and has retained 97-98% of its original factory blue. What's particular rare about this gun is it was a custom one off gun made for the Sheriff of Trego County Kansas! This gun is adorned with Grade 5 Walnut which has a rich, deep grain, and a lustrous shine. We cannot stress enough the condition in which this firearm is in, aside from slight handling marks, it is factory new, with a deep bright blue finish throughout and all stamping, serial numbers and Winchester manufacture stamps are deep, clear and easy to read. Upon trying to letter this gun with the Cody Firearms Museum we were informed the records for this time period on the 1897 shotgun were destroyed in the fire at Winchester. However, they do believe this is a one of one custom order gun due to the extremely tight fit and finish of the Monte-Carlo style stock to the receiver, as well as the tightness of the fore end and the depth and clarity of the markings.
