The Winchester Model 1887 is one of the most iconic lever-action shotguns ever produced, designed by John M. Browning and introduced in 1887. Originally chambered for black powder shotgun shells, the Model 1887 played an important role in the evolution of repeating shotguns and remains highly sought after by collectors for its historical significance and distinctive lever-action design. Early production examples, such as this one, are especially desirable due to their connection to the original production years.
This shotgun is believed to have been manufactured in 1888, making it an early production example. The metal finish shows heavy wear and a well-developed patina consistent with its age, while the wood exhibits handling marks and cosmetic blemishes from years of use. Mechanically, the action appears to function properly; however, this firearm has **not** been test fired. Given its age and collectible nature, we recommend that it be inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing.
