Description:
Manufactured in 1955, this desirable Winchester Model 12 is built with a solid rib barrel featuring a red front bead and white mid-bead sight, factory skeet choke, and 2 7/8 inch chamber. Barrel markings at the breech include “-MADE IN NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S. AMERICA-/-WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-,” “-WINCHESTER-/-TRADE MARK-,” and “MODEL 12 – 28 GA. – 2 7/8 CHAM./SKEET.” Winchester oval proof marks appear on the top of the receiver and barrel breech. Removal of the buttstock reveals the correct “28” marking on the rear of the stock retention bolt sleeve, further confirming proper gauge configuration. Matching serial numbers are present on the underside of the receiver and at the breech end of the magazine extension. The shotgun is fitted with a select walnut checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and factory checkered buttplate. Measurements include a 14 inch length of pull, 1 3/4 inch drop at heel, and 1 3/8 inch drop at comb. Accompanied by a factory box serial numbered “1519965,” only one digit removed from the gun itself, while correctly matching the rib, gauge, and skeet choke configuration. The box label is additionally ink stamped “SPECIAL” in the upper left corner.
Condition:
Near new in box with only light handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with a complete label, some old tape, and storage wear.
