Winchester Model 12 Pump-action 12 gage – Angelo Bee Engraved
Description: Winchester Model 12 Pump-action 12 gage – Angelo Bee Engraved Description: Manufactured in 1950 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver Angelo Bee. Double Ivory bead sight on the vented matte rib with engraving at the muzzle, 2 3/4-inch chamber, "FULL" choke marking and Winchester "WP" proofs, and standard model and address markings. Barrel is 29 inches. The receiver features full coverage leafy scroll engraving surrounding game scenes of dogs flushing pheasants on the right and a dog flushing quail on the left. The scenes are left bright. With matching engraving on the trigger guard. The left side of the receiver is signed "ABEE". Fancy fleur-de-lis checkered (also believed to be by ABEE) extension forearm and pistol grip stock with Winchester grip cap and checkered Winchester rubber butt-pad. Stock measurements are drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/8 inches; length of pull 14-1/2 inches. Condition: Very fine as embellished by Master Engraver Angelo Bee with 95% of the bright high polish blue finish remaining with slightly light barrel markings, sharp, detailed engraving, complete gold inlays, and slightly rounded edges. The nicely figured wood is also exceptionally fine with crisp checkering, sharp borders, and almost no handling marks – very nice indeed. Mechanically, the gun appears excellent. I have not test-fired this gun. Special Notes: I have no doubt; this is a one-of-a-kind very elaborately engraved shotgun, engraved by Master Engraver - Angelo Bee. Italian born Angelo was an engraver for the FN Belgium (Herstal) / Browning Arms Company until he immigrated to the US in 1975 and started doing custom engraving. At sixteen Angelo Bee began his journey as a machinist at the Browning Fabrique Nationale in Herstal, Belgium. His desire to become part of the elite group named the “white coats” (the engravers), Angelo took four years of evening classes at the Beaux Arts de Liege to develop his artistic talents and was ultimately accepted as an F.N. factory engraver apprentice. He worked under the tutelage of Felix Funken in the custom shop for 25 years and is now often sought out by his peers for his expertise and intimate knowledge about the F.N. and the Browning Superposed. I’m told Angelo is still alive today and living in central Texas. A real cool video: ://youtube/watch?v=GCEjB0ftPDc This is a modern-day work of art. If you’re a Model 12, or Angelo Bee collector, it’s a must have in your collection. Specifications:
