Winchester Model 12 SKEET 20 gauge. Ultra scarce, matching 2 barrel set w/ SR. Near pristine!
Description: ***SALE PENDING*** Perhaps the most popular and collectible of all legitimate Model 12s produced in terms of vintage, configuration and gauge, along with being a factory two barrel set which practically never surfaces. This is an absolutely stunning Model 12 SKEET grade in the scarce and highly desirable 20 gauge. This is also a matching S/N two barrel set, with both front halves wearing matted SOLID RIB BARRELS. S/N 1149378 made during the golden age of gunmaking shortly after WWII in 1948. The currently installed barrel assembly is a 26" WS-1 choke with solid rib and mirror bore. The 2nd barrel assembly is a 28" Modified choke, also with a solid rib and mirror bore. Note that this 2nd barrel assembly was ordered with a standard ribbed forearm, probably for planned field use. Overall condition is fantastic, showing 98%+ original finishes throughout on both wood and metal. There is a spot of minor surface oxidation along one of the receiver's high edges, but otherwise nothing worth noting. The wood grain, especially through the buttstock, is truly impressive with some beautiful flame figure not frequently seen on these earlier guns compared to some of the later period Skeet grades with vent ribs. This is about as good as it gets in the "real" M12 world with very few exceptions, some of those being quite suspect to say the least.
