Winchester Model 21 20 Gauge – TOURNAMENT SKEET, RARE, 99% FACTORY! vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1935, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 7oz, Chokes WS1 & WS2, LOP 14 1/16", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 9/16" Serial Number: 9890 What a beautiful little 20 gauge Model 21 Tournament Skeet we present here, with ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL FINISHES ON METAL AND WOOD, UNTOUCHED BY ANY RESTORATIONS SINCE IT LEFT THE FACTORY IN 1935 AND RETAINING 99% BARREL BLUE, 98% RECIEVER BLUE, AND MOST ALL OF THE WOOD FINISH. Considering almost all Model 21 guns have been restored at one time or another (even though the seller insists the gun is “original”) finding a gun like this is an event! Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength and mechanical genius created under the micro-management of John Olin himself. Model 21 guns are fully capable of shooting the most powerful loads available, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN. From 1930 to 1980 they only made about 2900 twenty-gauge guns in all grades, most of them Standard Grade and Skeet Grade guns. There are no solid numbers telling us how many TOURNAMENT SKEET GRADE guns were made in 20ga., but this grade was only offered in 1934 and 1935 and is highly coveted by collectors and shooters alike. THIS IS A RARE FIND! There are fakes out there with aftermarket stamps on the bottom of the receiver, so beware! The only way to be sure is with factory records that document the gun as a Tournament Skeet Grade. We have the Cody Firearms Museum Factory letter documenting this gun and it is included with the purchase. This M21, sn9890 built in 1935, reflects the quality being offered in the pre-war Winchesters, with meticulous polishing of metal and fitting wood to the action. The mechanics are excellent, with perfect screws, barrels tight on the breech face and hinge pin, well-timed ejectors, crisp single selective trigger…all in perfect working order. The 26” barrels have perfect bores and are choked WS1/WS2. The gun is a true lightweight in the world of Model 21’s weighing in at 6lbs. 7oz. She mounts and swings lightning fast for your upland pursuits. This is a rare opportunity to own an untouched, original Tournament Skeet in 20ga. that is the perfect gun for upland game and clay target games. What a grouse and woodcock gun this would make!
