Winchester Model 21 20 Gauge – VENT RIB, LETTER, FACTORY BLUE, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Wilson, Year 1940, 20 Gauge, 7lbs 1oz, Chokes SK/M, LOP 14", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 13203 Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength and mechanical genius created under the micro management of John Olin himself. With only 32,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use. From 1930 to 1980 they only made about 2900 twenty-gauge guns in all grades, most of them Standard Grades for the field. Model 21's are fully capable of shooting the most powerful loads available, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN (we can make it a 3” chamber safely in our gunsmith shop upon request). This gun, sn13203 produced in 1940, is a gorgeous little 20ga. with factory original metal finishes, and a factory original stock and forend that was recently restored to new condition. We have obtained an information sheet and order sheet from Cody Firearms Museum that documents this gun was ordered by Marshall Field and Co. of Chicago as a standard Skeet gun just as she sits now…vent rib, stock dimensions same as ordered, weight of gun, shipped as a Modified choke in both barrels. The only modification is that the right barrel has been opened to Skeet choke, making this gun the perfect upland bird gun and skeet gun. It will hold its own at most sporting clays courses as well. This gun has seen use in the field, with light wear on the barrels (96% blue), action (97% blue), and trigger guard (85% blue), all remaining in factory original condition. The wood is very nicely figured and retains most of a hand-rubbed Truoil finish we applied to the gun in 2019. You see very few 20ga. Model 21 guns with ventilated ribs which makes the sighting plane for the gun to be identical to an over/under or semi-auto gun, as you do not see the two barrels in the sight picture when the gun is mounted, only the rib. The gun is mechanically excellent, with crisp trigger pulls, strong well-timed ejectors, properly functioning single selective trigger, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun and the top lever well right of center. We are offering the gun with the metal in original factory condition for those that like them untouched. Upon request, our gunsmithing department will restore the barrels, trigger guard, etc. for those that prefer their gun to look like it just came from the factory. We do the restoration work for a gun buyer with no waiting in line…once you buy the gun, we put it right up on the bench and get the work done within a couple of months. This is a special M21, still retaining the checkered butt and modern stock dimensions, gorgeous wood, and that rare ventilated rib. It is a great investment quality gun. Thanks for looking!
