Winchester Model 21 Skeet Grade 12 ga 26" 2 3/4" WS1 / WS2 1938/39 mfg | w Huey leather case
Description:
This Winchester Model 21 Skeet Grade 12 gauge shotgun is in excellent shape. Overall, it's in 99% condition!
- Serial number -- 13736 -- indicates it was built in 1938/39.
- This shotgun was factory built as a standard grade skeet gun. It was later transformed into a beautifully engraved and finished canvas.
- The original bluing is correct. The receiver's high-sheen polish highlights the gorgeous engraving. The barrels are rust blued. Both the receiver and barrels are nearly immaculate, with only a tiny mark or two. There's also minor wear on the trigger guard from handling.
- The beautifully laid out scroll pattern is simply stunning. There's a quail depicted on the right hand side, with a pheasant on the left and a dog on the trigger guard. The previous owner's last name -- Mason -- is set in gold on the lower plate. The barrel chamber shoulders, muzzle, forend iron, and latch plate are also engraved. The engraver -- David Perdue, aged 31 at the time -- was employed by Meridan Arms Co. The engraving info is mentioned in the letter that comes with the shotgun.
- The American walnut stock and forend show fiddleback and beautifully contrasting colors. The checkering is still well-defined, even eighty years later. The original finish is nearly perfect, with a minor mark here and there. Both forend and stock retain their original integrity with no splits or cracks.
- The barrels measures 26" in length, are chambered for 2.75" shells, feature a red front bead, and has WS1 / WS2 straight chokes.
- Bores are bright and shiny.
- The lockup is tight.
- Mechanically, this gun is in excellent functioning condition and shoots great.
- Comes with a handbuilt Huey oak and leather case (#844 manufactured in 1994) featuring a blue suede interior. It's perfectly fit to the receiver and buttstock -- with individual compartments for the barrels and forend -- plus extra space for the necessary accessories.
- It also comes with the previous owner's letter of history and pertinent invoices.
