Winchester/Pachmayr Model 21 Custom
Description: This Model 21 is a beautifully done Winchester that was sent to Pachmayr in the 1940s to be upgraded and have magic applied to it that made Pachmayrs famous in the 1940s and 1950s. Described by Jack O'Connor as the best shotgun ever made in America, his family purchased four. I have been told that at least one still resides with the O'Connor museum in Lewiston, Idaho. This shotgun has a single, adjustable trigger as well as scalloped receiver and barrels. The condition of this shotgun is 99% plus and has perfect bluing and no scratches, dings, or problems. A small crack in the pistol grib was repaired by master gunsmith Bob Hunan many years ago. This is barely noticible and had to search for it even after the former owner told me where it was. The opening lever has been extensively and beautifully engraved and is unique to this shotgun! This shotgun features fifteen gold enlays, extensive engraving on the barrels, sidelocks, and action, and is a tribute to Mr. Doucher's skills as a master engraver. He signed the work as most master engravers do. The birds appear to be thirteen mallards, and a Lab retrieving a duck on the bottom of the receiver. A quail is on the trigger guard and With I/C and Modified chokes (the shotgun is marked Full/Mod), it is much more usable in the field and for shooting Sporting Clays. Its serial number is 174xx which dates it to about a 1947 manufacture. The 14.5 inch LOP and the double sights on the barrel make this a great item to use in competition, the field, or as an investment. Guns like this are in short supply and their value is continuously growing. These ( I have two model 21s posted) are magnificient examples of the best of gunmaking in the USA. Addition pictures are available and I can text them or email or fax them to you. For additional questions, please call 707-696-6416. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
