Winchester Model 23 - VINTAGE FIREARMS - Heavy Duck, AS NEW, MINT
Description: Winchester Model 23 12 Gauge SxS HEAVY DUCK, 1 OF 500, AS NEW, MINT GUN, ORIGINAL BOX, HANG TAGS General Specs: Winchester, Year 1984, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 13oz, SxS Serial Number: HD-84E Those who admire Winchester products and side x side shotguns are aware of the Winchester Model 23 introduced in 1978 and produced by Olin-Kodensha of Japan. The Model 23’s were in production through 1987 and have at least 6 different models including some baby framed .410 guns and a few commemorative guns. They are known to be extremely reliable, strongly built guns made in high-tech factories and of the finest steels. The most interesting and hardest to find Model 23 is the “HEAVY DUCK”, produced in 1984 as a series of only 500 guns total. We all know the harsh environment waterfowlers hang out in, so any Heavy Duck you see will show use and wear and tear. This gun, snHD-84E, the 84 Heavy Duck made, is a very rare example of a M23 in as new condition in every way. The blue on all parts is factory original and 99.5% there, with only the tiniest wear on the hard edges of the trigger guard. The wood on the gun is at least 2x figure with fiddleback American walnut and not a mark in the finish anywhere. That is amazing! The gun is as if it came right out of the box. And it did, AS WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL BOX, INTERNAL PACKING CARDBOARD, HANG TAG, INSTRUCTIONS, ETC. and they are all in great shape. This is a true collector quality gun that was never used afield. YOU WILL NEVER SEE A BETTER ONE for sale, that I can say with confidence. The previous owner used the gun briefly for sporting clays but it did not fit him and so it sat. There is a special recoil reducer made by Recoil Systems called an “Isis II Light” recoil damper on the butt that is an add on that costs over $500 to have installed and is one of the most effective systems in existence. The stock was not cut during the installation as the butt stock measures 13 1/8” LOP to the end of the wood, which would be 14 1/8” with the factory installed pad that came on the gun. This is a welcome addition if you shoot heavy loads for waterfowl or hundreds of rounds in a day of shooting competitive sporting clays. This is a killer waterfowler shotgun with 30” F/F barrels, 3” factory chambers, great stock dimensions, and a very reliable single selective trigger for those cold days and gloved hands. This is also a premier Winchester collectible, being 34 years old, as new in the original box. Just think what this thing would be worth in 25 years! And it has been fired, so you can take it to the trap range or shoot spreader loads to open your patterns for sporting clays, baby it a bit, but have fun shooting it as well.
