Winchester model 42 Skeet gun with exceptional wood. A 1947 vintage gun that comes with Green Orvis Canvas takedown case.( Not Pictureg ,but in excellent shape )
I have decided to part with my Winchester model 42 . This one is extra nice! It’s a 1947 gun with a 26 inch barrel and skeet boring. The metal finish is 95%+ and the wood finish is excellent. It has a Simmons ventilated rib with the very rarely seen Duck Bill extension on the receiver. This was an extra cost option offered by Simmons for a short period of time in the 60s and 70s. This is the only one I have ever seen on a model 42 and I’ve always admired how it looked. The Wood on the gun is highly figured black walnut, and I believe it was done by Bishop, who went out of business in the last century. The stock length is 14 3/8 inches over a thin pad. The checkering is quite nice and very crisp. The bolt and carrier have been Engine Turned (Jeweled ), and that adds to the attractiveness of this gun. The bore and mechanics are excellent, and the pump action is smooth and very slick. Model 42’s are great fun on the skeet field and are a dandy dove gun. Included in the sale is an Green Orvis canvas and leather fleece lined take down case, With an over the shoulder carrying strap. You will be pleased with the shotgun and it will quickly become one of your favorites. I am going to miss this one.
