Offered up for sale is a Standard Field Grade Winchester Model 42 with a 26-inch barrel. This small bore .410 shotgun is in excellent condition, a true collector grade, with only minimal wear given its age. The Winchester Model 42 with superb balance and fast handling was designed after its “big brother”, the dependable Winchester Model 12. The Model 42 is an outstanding gun for short range small game shooting and small-bore sheet shooting. It first went into production in 1933 and stayed in the Winchester lineup until 1963. This .410 bore was manufactured as a Standard Grade shotgun in 1961 and has serial number 149263. This Standard Grade features a plain blued matted top receiver and barrel, no rib, a Winchester front bead metal sight, is chambered for 3-inch shells and is choked Modified. The cross-lock safety operates horizontally across the front of the trigger guard. The famous Winchester slide action on this shotgun remains simple, smooth and durable. The post-war pistol grip stock and slide handle (forearm) are made of American black walnut and lacquer finished with a wax base. The butt plate is hard rubber, checkered diagonally with the round “Winchester” inscription in the center and attached to the stock by slot head screws. This .410 weighs in at around 6lbs., has a LOP of 13¾”, with an approximate drop at comb of 1½” and 2¼” at heel.  Buyer pays shipping and insurance.
