Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Winchester Model 50 Semi-Automatic Shotgun, manufactured in 1954 with a production run between 1954 to 1959 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Model 50 shotgun was Winchester’s third semi-automatic shotgun. It was designed by David Marshall “Carbine” Williams with a fixed barrel and a short-recoil floating chamber, as opposed to the Browning design that features the whole barrel moving backward under recoil. The Williams design reduces felt recoil since the entire mass of the barrel is not moving. These guns were of excellent craftsmanship, being of milled steel parts, which made them expensive to produce.
The overall condition is very fine. Original blue finish. Excellent action and bore. The walnut stock has a nice grain structure and is solid and smooth throughout. A really nice, first year example of a Winchester Model 50!
