The Winchester Model 1897, also known as the Model 97, M97, Riot Gun, or Trench Gun, is a pump-action shotgun with an external hammer and tubular magazine, manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The Model 1897 was an evolution of the Winchester Model 1893 designed by John Browning. From 1897 until 1957, over one million of these shotguns were produced. Since Model 1897 was first manufactured, it has been used to great effect by American military personnel, law enforcement/correctional officers and hunters alike. This Model 1897 was manufactured in 1901 making it over 122 years old! It is chambered in 12 gauge and features a 20-inch barrel. The action of this shotgun is still solid and somewhat smooth with a surprisingly tight lock-up and the trigger still has a clean break for its age. The forend has been replaced at some point. The original butt stock is missing the original recoil pad and has a missing bolt to secure it tighter to the receiver, so it does rattle and has missing material around where it meets with the receiver/back of the trigger guard. The finish on the barrel and receiver and some internal components are significantly worn off showing signs of this shotguns age. *PLEASE NOTE* THIS SHOTGUN IS SOLD IN -AS IS CONDITION- 12 Gauge
