Here we have a Winchester Model 1897 Slide Action 12 Ga. Manufactured in 1905, this shotgun features an improved Model 1893 action, 30 in. full choke barrel, visible hammer, takedown frame and a plain pistol grip stock. This model is marked "Model 1897" on the slide action rails. After approx. ser. no. 500,000, the marking was moved to the barrel and changed to Model 97. The Model 1897 was the first Winchester shotgun chambered for 2 3/4 in. smokeless ammunition. This shotgun is in nice condition! The stock has a few markings but is in 90% + condition. The receiver and barrel have some impoerfections but are in 85% +/- conditon. The bore looks great and is in 95% +/- condition! Overall, this gun is in 90% +/- conditon.
