Winchester M21 16 Ga. – 1947 28” SST EJ SPLINTER, NICE, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Winchester, 1947, 16 Gauge, 7lbs., Chokes IC/F, LOP 14 1/16", DAH 2 9/16", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 19294 The Model 21 is a strikingly handsome gun built with the finest steels. Gunners in the know have utilized the Model 21 in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure. IF YOU LIKE HEAVY LOADS FOR PHEASANTS OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS THE GUN. FOR THOSE THAT SHOOT HIGH VOLUME BIRDS OR CLAYS, THIS IS YOUR GUN! With only 30,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any nice Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm. Search the internet and you will see lots of 12ga. guns for sale, as most of the 30,000 made were 12ga. guns. Model 21 guns in 16 gauge were made in fewer numbers than even the 20ga. guns, so finding Model 21 guns in 16ga. is not an easy task. Most that you see have been restored with modern finishes that look like the receiver has been painted black and not done to factory specifications. So how do you know which one to buy. To make a wise purchase you need thorough, clear photographs, specifications that tell you what you MUST know to not make a mistake in your purchase, and you need to know you can trust the seller. Vintage Firearms provides all these things, and with our 4 full-time gunsmiths we never sell guns that aren’t fully inspected with mechanical warranties. This M21 16ga. sn19294, made in 1947, is a Standard Grade gun and a bit unusual in that it has the normal extra features of single selective trigger and ejectors, but came from the factory with the field style splinter forend that is handier chasing upland birds. With the most desirable 28” barrels choked a light mod/full, it is the perfect gun for chasing pheasants with heavy No. 4 loads, as well as being great chokes for sporting clays. We have a Cody Firearms Museum information sheet that documents how the gun shipped as shown in the photos. The barrels retain 96% factory blue, perfect bores, chokes marked M/F (right barrel has been opened to a LIGHT MOD), barrels tight on the breech face and hinge pin. The action retains 97% blue with light scratches and carry wear, excellent screws, single selective trigger with crisp pulls, strong well-timed ejectors, all mechanically excellent with the top lever right of center. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED AND SCRUBBED TO CLEAN METAL. ALL PARTS INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED READY FOR ANOTHER 78 YEARS OF SERVICE. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS HAVE A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. The nicely figured wood on this gun has the expected light handling marks but no cracks or splits, excellent checkering and wood-to-metal fit, equipped with an original factory installed Winchester pad, and great dimensions for the modern shooter. What a great gun for the field or shooting clays at the club. All Model 21 guns are sought after investment quality firearms. They are getting harder to find every day.
