Description: 1919 WINCHESTER Model 20 Single Barrel .410 Shotgun C&R SMALL GAME GETTER
1 of 23,616 Manufactured Between 1919 and 1924
Here we present a C&R Winchester Model 20 Single Barrel .410 Shotgun, manufactured circa 1919 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Winchester Model 20 shotgun went into production in 1919 and stayed in the Winchester line until 1924. It was intended to compete with the likes of the Stevens and Savage/Fox as an affordable, simple single shot shotgun. The total production reached approximately 23,616.
The .410 shotgun, often touted as a “beginner’s gun” because of its attractiveness to young shooters, is usually lightweight with thin patterns and doesn’t deliver a big charge which could potentially scare away a young shooter. The origins of the .410 go back to the end of the nineteenth century, when farmers shot birds and small game to feed their families. There wasn’t any wing shooting involved here, just pop them wherever they were and take ‘em home for mom to cook.
The overall condition is very fine. Original finish is preserved. Excellent action. The bore is mirror bright and remains smooth. Both the forend and buttstock have minimal handling wear and remain fine. Markings are sharp.
