Winchester Model 12 20 Ga - 1937 SKEET SOLID RIB, 98%, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Winchester, Year 1937, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 15oz., Choke WS1, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 745737 The Winchester Model 12 has been a famed gun for upland game and clay target games, having won many National Championships on the trap and skeet fields. Known throughout the world as the very finest pump action shotgun ever made, these guns were hand fitted and machined to perfection. From the skeet and trap fields to the upland bird cover, even in the 3 major wars, the Model 12 has been a favorite of American gunners for over 100 years. This fine Model 12 Skeet we show here, sn745737 built in 1937, is an excellent example of Winchester’s finest workmanship during the pre-war years that exemplified some of the finest Model 12’s that were produced. This Model 12 is marked “SKEET” on the action, WS-1 on the barrel 26” barrel with solid rib, and has very nicely figured SKEET grade wood with the fine checkering that was used pre-war. The barrel and action retain 98% of the factory blue, with some very light freckling on both as shown in the photos. This did not develop into pitting of any kind, just made it into the blue finish. Still excellent for an 86-year-old Winchester. The gun has been afield and has the expected light field marks and scratches in the stocks, but no cracks, gouges, or deep into the wood marks. The bore is excellent, as are the screws and wood-to-metal fit. This is a really nice example and a very useable gun for clays or upland hunting. Winchester pre-war guns are highly sought after and make for an excellent investment that will gain in value as you enjoy the shooting pleasure of ownership. Thanks for looking!
