Absolutely Scarce Engraved James Woodward Boxlock Ejector 12 Bore with Purdey Archive Letter Made 1900
Description: Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this rarely found example of a James Woodward boxlock double. While the sidelocks are not exactly plentiful, this is the only boxlock we have ever observed anywhere. The icing on the cake is that the archives, held by Purdey's, confirm the configuration and other details. Made in the year of our Lord 1900, it is hard to believe she is nearly 122 years old. The blue is rich and deep, with some thinning at the muzzle and breach. The nicely figured walnut has only minor handling marks, with drops of 1 1/2 and 2 5/8 inches. The LOP is still 15 inches to the classy checkered butt. The bores of the 30 inch tubes are full bright, and the chokes remain as specified. The chambers are 2 5/8 inches. She is equipped with ejectors and an automatic safety. Weighing in at less than 7 pounds, she is a pleasure to carry and point. The lever still resides to the right of center, and the highly detailed engraving is sharp and clear. We have rarely seen such delicate perfection in engraving. My photos do not do it justice. This is the second of a two gun set. If you have the first, we need to talk. The Wood ward name is one of the most sought after in the doubles market, commanding higher values each passing year. In that regard, this one is priced very fairly. If you have been looking for the right James Woodward to collect, or for investment, but want one that nobody else has, then look no further.
