Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Short Rifle In 32 Winchester Special
Description:
This rifle was made in 1925. It is chambered for the 32 Winchester Special. It is fitted with a factory original twenty two inch barrel. The rifle is also fitted with the uncommon Lyman side mounted receiver sight. This sight also has the windage ajustable built in wheel. The rear sight is the Lyman folding leaf sight. The front sight is the standard Winchester sight. This Winchester also has the rare full octagonal barrel with the button magazine. The bore is bright and clean with no pitting. The barrel has very strong blue with slight wear on the barrel flat points. The receiver has mostly a silvery brown finish with strong blue in protected areas. The checkering is a correct period style checkering. However it is not factory done. The quality of the checkering is very good quality workmanship and pleasing to the eye. The stock and forend have not been refinished or sanded. The wood retains all of it's varnish. The stock has good texture and color. There are no cracks or other damage. There is a slight dent by the upper left side of the stock by the buttplate heel. I would rate this rifle in this manner, 95% blue on barrel and magazine cap, 20% receiver blue and 95% stock and forend. This gun has three special order features. First off is the short barrel, only one out of every 1420 rifles had shorter than standard barrels. Next, this gun has the button magazine, only one out of every 725 rifles had shorter than standard magazines. The side mounted receiver sight is also a uncommon sight to see on the 1894. The checkering is also uncommon to see on straight grip rifles even though it is not factory done. This is a really nice balanced rifle with great eye appeal! Having this many out of standard features makes this a very collectable Winchester. This rifle would not look out of place in any Winchester collection. Search for Harry Viezens on google.
