Colt Single Action Army 45 1881 Production With Factory Letter And One Piece Ivory Grips
Description:
This Colt was produced in 1881. The pistol's serial number is 71320. The Factory letter states that this Colt was shipped to William Reed And Sons Boston Massachutsetts August 10th 1881. It is all matched serial numbers. It was factory Nickel With no mention of grips or barrel length. 7 1/2 inch barrel was standard at that time. The action works very fine with all cocks working correctly. The timing is also in correct time. The bore is very good with good lands and no pitting. The cylinders have good chambers with no pitting. The ivory grips have some very small shrinkage. The grips fit snug with no play. There is no chips or damage to the grips. The plating now is a very old replate. They did not damage the lettering or serial numbers. The screws are rounded top with no flattening. There is no rounded corners or other poor polish work. This colt has the correct cylinder pin with the little holes on each end. It also has the correct ejector rod head. Many of these old Colts were replated during it's work life, this is not uncommon for these Colts. This is a very nice condition old Colt that has seen use but no abuse. The ivory grips are really pretty and show their age really well. This Colt certainly can be used today! But for all purposes It is a retired pistol! With this Colt's great looks and Factory letter, this is the kind of Single Action that collectors look for now. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
