Leather covered shirasaya scabbard with ring mount. Very good overall with blade needing re-polishing. Old and absolutely authentic tag states “LT. GEN. K.E. ROCKEY, U.S.M.C. /5TH MARINE DIVISION/2-26-45/TOBIISHI POINT-/IWO JIMA”. Back of tag with old ink drawing of tang signature. Found in the attic of a local home in the 1960’s. Suribachi was by six Marines of the 28th Regiment of the 5th Marine Division under Gen. Rockey’s command.
