This Is a early box of 38-55 shells by Union Metallic Cartridge Co. This box was made around the early 1890's. These are the original black powder loadings for this cartridge. These shells are bright and clean. This box is in very fine condition with no issues. The labels are bright and clean. This box has the one row of shells set up higher for easier loading. This was a early feature on these boxes. The top lid also has a wood strip inside to match the lower row of shells. This keeps the top lid from sloping or caving in. These early boxes are considered rare now! Here is a really fine box with a popular loading!
