Queen's South Africa Medal with Five Clasps Awarded to Pvt. James Greg
Description: This is an original silver medal with identification along the edge: "4260 PTE J. GREGOR 2ND DRAGOONS". The silver has a pleasant purple-gray tarnish, with a bright bluish patina around the edges, and mild handling marks and surface wear visible. The silk suspension ribbon is in excellent condition with five clasps: "BELFAST / DIAMOND HILL / JOHANNESBURG / PAARDEBERG / RELIEF OF KIMBERLY". A small cigarette card depicting an officer of the Scots Greys in full dress uniform is also included. James Gregor, of Perth, Scotland, was 19 years old when he enlisted in the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) on February 11, 1896. He was entitled to the King's South Africa Medal with 1901 and 1902 clasps as well. This is a splendid Boer War medal, in excellent condition, and would make a great piece for display.
