Wonderful, original condition Ithaca 1911 A1 US Double Stamp Military Pistol, with features of earlier and later production guns consistent with other reported serial numbers, mirror bore, and correct manual mechanics.
Description:
Interesting Ithaca 1911A1 US Double Stamp Military pistol, SN suggesting production in 1943, though the slide is marked in the manner found in an earlier serial range and the serrated mainspring housing is usually fitted to pistols made in 1944. Standard blade and notch sights, serrated slide release and thumb safety, narrow checkered hammer, short grip safety, and serrated mainspring housing. The left side of the slide marked with the usual two-line Ithaca address. The "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" model reference is on both the right side of the slide and frame, the latter also including "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and the full serial number. Proofing includes the “P” on top of the slide and on the left frame below the magazine release, both breaking through the parkerized finish. The “FJA” inspection mark, ordnance wheel, and inner surface of grip screw escutcheons also break the finish. Blued High Standard barrel whose lug is marked with an ‘HS’ and ‘P’, as correct for an original assembled pistol. Keyes Fiber grips with screw head reinforcements. Blued magazine with an "S" on the toe.
Condition:
Beautiful 99+% original condition parkerizing with all "P" proofs, inspector initials, ordinance wheel, and inner grip screw escutcheons breaking through the finish. Comparable condition barrel, with minimal wear on the barrel hood / mirror bright bore, grips, and magazine. A Double Stamp Ithaca M1911A! that would be very difficult to improve upon!
