Condition: 2’ half round half octagon barrel with a nice smooth bore with just some very minor pitting. The metal surface has been cleaned to pewter with stains from oxidation and a few handling marks. The frame is a mix of pewter and gray showing spots of moderate oxidation. Barrel markings are still somewhat clear and legible. The smooth walnut factory grips fit the frame well with handling marks , areas of worn finish. Serial number is located under the left grip. The pistol appears to function very well mechanically with a strong hammer spring. The trigger return spring is sluggish but returns ok with a crisp trigger pull. As a collector's piece, this Marston derringer holds historical significance due to its association with an influential figure in American firearms history and its representation of mid-19th-century firearm design and innovation.
