Colt Model 1911 A1 Military Issue Pre World War 2 Production
Description: This Colt was one of the last pistols to be factory blued finish in 1940. This 45 A.C.P. pistol's serial number is 718063. It has the correct serial numbered slide that matches the frame. This Colt was one of 4695 pistols produced in 1940 for the military. This makes this pistol one of the scarcer pre world war 2 blued U.S. Army models. The slide retains 98% of the original factory bluing. The sights are original to this pistol. There is a correct "P" on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. Left side of frame has the [CSR] inspection stamp For Charles S. Reed. He was the inspector during 1938 to 1940. The original fully checkered grips are in very fine condition. The short trigger has the correct cross hatched checkered surface The hammer, slide stop, safety and arched mainspring housing have the checkered surface areas. The original blued barrel has the [ Colt 45 Auto ] with proof [P] on left lug. These barrel markings are correct for guns produced after serial number 710001. The frame's bluing would rate a 94% overall condition. The front grip area has the most wear due to handling. The magazine is a very fine condition two tone magazine. The bore has sharp lands with some pitting from poor cleaning. This is a very fine condition pre war Colt that is in it's original condition as it left Colt's in 1940. These pre war pistols are highly prized by collectors today. This is certainly one of the finest ones being offered for sale! Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details.
