Attractive, Original Condition Ithaca 1911A1 US Military .45 ACP pistol, WWII, British Lend Lease, with Correct Barrel and Magazine.
Description:
Standard configuration Ithaca 1911A1 pistol, .45ACP, this example British Lend-Lease marked, with a 5” barrel, fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight, serrated slide release, thumb safety, narrow checkered hammer, short grip safety, and checkered Keyes Fiber grips. Left side of slide with usual two line Ithaca address. The left side of the frame has the “FJA” inspection mark breaking through the finish. Right side of frame with “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S. ARMY” over the full serial number and ordnance wheel lightly stamped on rear near tang, also breaking through the finish. Additional proofing includes the “P” on top of the slide and on the left frame below the magazine release. Later applied British proofing on exposed barrel hood, and right side of frame bracketing the slide release axle. The barrel lug is marked with an ‘HS’ (High Standard) and ‘P’, as is correct for an original assembled pistol. Correct blued magazine marked with an ‘R’ on the toe.
Condition:
Very good original parkerized finish with sharp edge and holster wear consistent with a service pistol that has seen moderate use. All inspection markings breaking through finish, confirming originality. Comparable grips and magazine. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics.
