Synopsis:
High, original condition Ithaca Model 1911A1 U.S. Military Pistol assembled in 1943 with near mirror bore and an equally good magazine. A wonderful addition to any collection of WWII military pistols.
Description:
Standard configuration 1911A1 manufactured by Ithaca in 1943, the left side of the slide marked with the usual two-line Ithaca address. The model designation, SN (stamped through finish), and U.S. ARMY / property markings are on the right side of the frame. Proofing includes the “P” on top of the slide and on the left frame below the magazine release, both breaking through the parkerized finish. The left side of the frame has the “FJA” inspection mark while the ordnance wheel is lightly stamped on the right frame near the tang. Again, both break through the finish. The barrel lug is marked with an ‘HS’ (High Standard) and ‘P’, as is correct for an original assembled pistol. It is fitted with blade and notch sights, serrated slide release, thumb safety, narrow checkered hammer, short grip safety, and checkered Keyes Fiber grips. Correct blued magazine marked with an ‘R’ on the toe.
Condition:
Excellent original parkerized finish with very light sharp edge wear. Usual scratch below slide release lever. Negligible thinning/wear on front strap. Most of the blue is worn from the exposed chamber hood. Excellent grips and magazine in keeping with the overall condition of the pistol. Near mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
