German Imperial Navy Luger Pistol 1917 Date With Holster And Capture Papers
Description: This Luger was produced in 1917. The pistol's serial number is 824. It has the 6 inch naval barrel with the two position rear sight chambered for the 9 m/m Parabellum German Service Round. This pistol is all matched serial numbers with the exception of the magazine. The correct style naval magazine is serial numbered 971. The bore is bright with very sharp lands. The original strawed parts retain almost all of the original strawing. The wood grips are in fine condition with sharp checkering points. The original bluing would rate a strong 97% overall finish. The most loss is on high point surfaces due to holster wear. The two position rear sight works correctly and locks up tight. The action works correctly and shows very little use or wear. This pistol is in fine original condition with no issues! The holster is the belt model that was used for Imperial Naval forces in Belgium in World War One. This pistol was most likely not issued with a stock due to having been issued with a belt model holster. This holster was made by L.Z.A. With their trade mark Eagle Logo. The leather is very supple with no cracking. This holster does show service use but was well cared for. The rare brass naval cleaning rod has the zig zag tip for the wiping rag. The loading tool is faintly naval marked. The pull strap in the holster is intact as well as the tie down strap for the top cover. The capture papers are from World War Two. This Pistol was surrendered by a German Naval Oberst { Full Colonel } To Sergeant Werner Ellmann of Patton's Army. Sergeant Ellmann was born in Germany so he was able to speak fluent German. This Person also served as a translater at the Nurnberg Trials at Daachau and other Concentration Camps. I have a full Bio. on this person. Also included is a photo of the surrendering German solders that Sergeant Ellmann had to handle with that Colonel. It is fairly rare to have such documents with this pistol! It was Mr. Ellmann's understanding that the German Naval Officer used this pistol in World War One also. This Luger Served Germany In Two World Wars! To have all this information on a pistol is quite amazing! It would be difficult to find another Luger with this kind of background! let alone a Rare Naval Model!
