The VIS Mod.35 was Poland’s premier military sidearm and one of the finest service pistols fielded during the Second World War. Following the German occupation of Poland, production continued at the famed Fabryka Broni Radom arsenal under German control, with pistols entering Wehrmacht inventory as the Pistole 35(p). This example represents the highly desirable early occupation three-lever variant, retaining the full complement of original operating controls before later wartime simplifications were introduced. These pistols saw widespread service with German Army personnel, military police units, and occupation forces throughout the European theater.

Mechanically, the VIS combined elements of the Browning Hi-Power and Colt 1911 into a rugged and exceptionally well-balanced combat pistol. Its short-recoil locking system, all-steel construction, and crisp single-action trigger earned a reputation for outstanding reliability and practical battlefield accuracy. The three-lever arrangement includes the slide stop, takedown lever, and frame-mounted decocking lever, features that distinguished the early pistols from the simplified late-war variants. The substantial grip profile and excellent trigger geometry made the VIS one of the most respected military handguns of the era.

The left side of the slide retains the correct F.B. RADOM VIS Mod.35 patent legend, directly linking the pistol to production at the historic Radom factory. German military acceptance is confirmed by matching Eagle/WaA77 inspection stamps found on both the slide and frame, identifying inspection and acceptance under Wehrmacht ordnance supervision during early occupation production. The Eagle/N firing proof adjacent to the slide legend signifies successful proof testing prior to military acceptance, while the P.35(e) designation reflects the German classification of the Polish-designed service pistol. Additional component inspection marks on the trigger, frame web, and internal parts further support the pistol’s authentic wartime production pedigree.

Collectors consistently place three-lever VIS pistols among the most desirable occupation-produced Radoms due to their comparatively limited production and retention of pre-simplification features. The M-prefix serial range, matching WaA77 acceptance marks, early proof configuration, and intact military features all contribute to strong collector demand. These pistols occupy a sweet spot between scarce pre-war Polish military examples and the later rough-finished wartime variants produced under increasing resource constraints. As a result, authentic early occupation examples continue to command premium attention within advanced World War II handgun collections.

From its sharply machined steel construction to its distinctive VIS grip panels and unmistakable Radom profile, this pistol embodies the craftsmanship of one of Europe’s most respected military arms factories. The combination of original German acceptance markings, early three-lever configuration, and documented wartime production history gives the piece significant historical presence. Every inspection stamp and proof mark reflects its journey through the German military acceptance process during one of the most consequential periods of twentieth-century arms production. It remains a compelling centerpiece for collectors seeking an authentic and highly recognizable World War II Axis-issued sidearm.
