After joining with the toolmaker K.W. Thompson in the mid 1960's the Contender was born and released to the public in 1967. These pistols are ICONIC for their strength and customization ability. The genius in her design was in the built-in dual firing pins with a selector on the exposed hammer to choose from rimfire or centerfire cartridges. In addition, the user can adjust their own trigger weight depending on the caliber in use. There is nothing else on the market quite like it and currently in production as a 2nd Generation, this 1st Generation unit still maintains the classic "Cougar" etching on the receiver.
