Description: I CAN EMAIL OR TEXT YOU A LINK WITH 91 PICTURES. JUST EMAIL ME AT DOGFACESUPPLYGMAIL OR TEXT ME AT 802-316-1020. For sale is a RARE Colt U.S. 1877 Double Action 41 Colt "Thunderer" revolver. This is one of 600 Colt Model 1877 Double Action Revolvers shipped to the Philippines in 1902. They were sent to the Insular Purchasing Agent E.G. Shields in Manila as the U.S. was working to shift control of the Philippine Islands from the Army to civilian control. As detailed in a photo I have of a letter from Don Wilkerson, these revolvers are very seldom seen in the United States. Wilkerson had only seen four during his study of Colt revolvers. These were never marked "U.S." like the Model 1878/1902 revolvers were. This includes the Colt factory letter and a few photos of other Colt letters from this shipment. It has excellent blue and lots of case color. Fire blue still on the back of the hammer, trigger, and a lot of the screws. 6” barrel, "bulls-eye" ejector model. Manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1902. On top of the barrel is a two-line Colt address, and on the side of the barrel is rolled Colt D.A. 41. This is .41 Long Colt. On the left side of the frame are the three-line patent dates and the Colt pony in a circle. It has all matching serial numbers, including the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, as well as the last two digits, 77, pencil marked by Colt inside both original grips. The grips are in excellent condition. The finish is in excellent condition. The mirror-bright bluing is beautiful. The case coloring has faded, but is still very present, especially in the untouched recesses. Mechanically, it is in excellent condition, with a tight cylinder lockup in single-action. The bore is excellent. The rifling is mirror-bright. My camera actually reflected in it, it is so bright! The cylinder and barrel look to have had some light oxidation cleaned from them at one time, but both still remain in amazing, original condition. The cylinder wall interiors are like new. The barrel, under the ejector housing, is marked with the inspector's mark, and 41, for .41 caliber, which all Colt .38-40 and .41 LC revolver barrels were marked because they use the same .41 caliber bullet. Everything on this revolver is correct and original. Just an absolutely stunning piece. This gun was shipped to the Purchasing Agent, Manila, Philippine Islands, on February 10, 1902. The serial number is 130772. These were the last shipped before the Model 1878/1902 Colt DA revolvers were delivered to the Philippines (see one of THOSE right next to this one!) An amazing piece of history for the discerning collector. I have added a copy of the Wilkerson letter, a copy of two other Colt letters of revolvers like this, and a copy of the Constabulary letter showing the 600 pistols on hand, and in use (AGAIN, copies, these do NOT come with the revolver, nor do I own them. The photos are for reference only!). One sold at Rock Island for over $9k last year! I have added 91 photos. Please look at ALL of them before . This is C&R eligible, where legal! SHIPPING WILL BE DETERMINED BY LOCATION. I USE USPS PRIORITY MAIL SHIPPING. I DO NOT use FedEx. Period. I will use UPS Overnight (which is THEIR actual policy if you want them to honor the insurance) for C&R Handguns ONLY, if the buyer wants that. The buyer should know that service is VERY expensive, and it is cheaper, even with your transfer fee, to have it go USPS Flat Rate Priority, to an 01 FFL. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS! I am an 01 FFL. Curio/Relic: Yes Handgun Caliber: .41 Long Colt (.41 Colt, .41 LC) Manufacturer: Colt Model: Thunderer Barrel Length: 6 Condition: Excellent Price: $5,500.00 Contact Seller |
